My entry for EtsyMom Team’s Color Palatte Challenge!
I’m super pleased with how it turned out. You can find my listing for it here or browse the rest of my listings in my shop.
I spent an hour yesterday stitching pockets for my next set of dresses, inspired by a new one I’m working on for Liv. I’ll not only be listing them in my shop but I’m participating in a craft show at the end of November. Local friends come check it out at the Lewiston Public Library, I’ll be posting more information about it in the next few days!
Today I’m snuggling a sick kid (fever was 103.8 last night, poor babe) so I probably won’t get much sewing done, maybe a little fabric cutting. Time to brew another pot of coffee (with Salted Caramel Mocha creamer, it’s the business) and get this girl some chicken soup.
I jumped in on this challenge at the very last minute, and October 9th is sneaking up very quickly!
The Etsy Mom team is hosting a challenge using these colors as inspiration for a handmade creation. Using honey gold, pink flambe, and titanium I’ve got something awesome in the works. Here’s a little preview!
That plaid right?! It might be difficult to tell from the teaser photo but the colors within the plaid are actually honey gold, a bright pink and titanium. I’m glad I bought several yards so I can make a little something for myself. The challenge allows for two enteries per shop, so I might be making another one as well. Winners are chosen based on the number of votes an entry receives on October 14th – 19th on the EtsyMom Facebook page! So come vote friends! Don’t worry I’ll remind you.
Liv has a fever today so we’ll be hanging around the house, hopefully I’ll get a lot done in between snuggles. She does seem to be enjoying my gluten free cookies quite a bit, so perhaps she’s on the mend!
But getting time to sew certainly isn’t! Not only have I developed a serious flower and vegetable garden addiction, but I feel beyond guilty staying inside on a gorgeous day with Liv.
That said, I have been working on a few little things here and there. I’ve started my project for the handmade exchange with this amazing Riley Blake Ombre Dots fabric mixed with some gorgeous vintage fabric I picked up at a yardsale recently ($1 a yard! It was insane!).
I also revamped some of my earlier finished projects. My old sewing machine didn’t always create the neatest and tightest hems that my new machine does (and I’ve gotten a little handier myself). I’ve started doing some of my own embellishments and using contrasting thread, double and triple stitches along hems, and having a little creative fun. I did a little of that for a dress I’d made early on in my etsy days, and added a pair of bloomers for the gal who purchased it. Turned out pretty cool!
Oh and I made this romper for a friend! The blue with white ruffles was designed for her, but the cupcake pattern will be up in my shop very soon!
Love & Rock friends!
Lately I’ve been thinking about expanding PRPT. Not in the sense that I’ll have more time or resources available (ha!), moreso in finding a niche that is a little more focused and organized. So while I’ll still make all the toddler dresses, aprons, women’s clothes, and whatever else strikes my fancy (bookmarks, coasters, bloomers, oh my!) in my Punk Rock Pigtails store, I’ll be starting a new line of handmade creations! I’ll be creating a secondary store but keeping with the Punk Rock theme. This is still in the development phase so I won’t say too much just yet, but here is a little preview!
Hello friends. Been awhile, I know. After taking so stinkin’ long to finish the big lot of aprons I made for a website (details coming soon!!) I became totally overwhelmed with holidays and life, finding little time to set out for sewing.
But I’m back now! And with a newly listed set of retro style bloomers/diaper covers. These turned out so cute! This particular set includes six (6) bloomers for just $30, which is essentially like getting one for free. The size is 18-24 months, but the legs and waist are elastic so cute little booties will definitely get a lot of wear from these.
Please visit my Etsy Shop to check them out, and see what else I have to offer as well!
Happy New Year! xo!
So I recently finished a custom order of 5 pairs of bloomers, which became a pretty cute project. I typically charge $7 for bloomers, but decided for this order I would offer a discount based on the number of bloomers she wanted. 5 for $25. If there was some interest in bulk orders like that I might feature it regularly?! Look at the cuteness and send me some feedback!
So this summer has started off a busy one for us. We are in the process of buying a home, which means a lot of the time I typically take for sewing or other creative things has been spent packing, doing paperwork, and obsessively checking my email for good news! We are in the last stages of financing, which means we’ve already done the inspection and all the initial paperwork. It’s just a waiting game now. Exciting! And nerve-wracking 🙂
I have a little work I’ve been doing, these two aprons will be listed in the shop later today! I am also offering handmade jewelry now, my sister is working as my guest artist! Please check out the shop to view them, before I steal them all 😉
I also am working on a custom order of 5 bloomers, headed to Australia! My shop has only been open since December, but I have recently found myself a little discouraged that I wasn’t making any sales (part of that is my own fault, my shop needs updating way more than I’ve had time for the past two months). BUT! This is my first real sale to someone I don’t already know! I’ve finished two pair, and have cut the rest. I’ll be stitching them up tomorrow and sending them off sometime next week I imagine!
And finally, I have cut the pattern for the dress I’m making for my vintage pattern trade! I’ll likely stitch that up at the same time I do the bloomers and send it off as well!
I’m including a few photos of my current fabric selection (although, some of these are less than a yard), perhaps there will be a little inspiration in there! Let me know if something catches your eye 😉
We are enjoying the first real days of summer, I hope you all are doing the same!
I haven’t been around much lately, sorry friends! My kid turned 2 and I turned 30 in the past 2 weeks (um. Holy crap). We’ve also had lots of birthdays and holidays which I made gifts for, so you haven’t seen much new in my shop recently! We are putting an offer on a house today (!!!) so that may take me away a bit in the next few months. I plan on really trying to get some new products available in the next 1-2 weeks!
In the works today are several toddler aprons in super cute colors. Look for those in the shop in the next few days.
I am also developing an apron pattern for one of my favorite websites, Not Stepford Wives. Those will be featured in the future, I’ll update you here on the progress.
Finally, I’ve made a super cool trade for a big lot of vintage patterns. Audrey of Little Eye Designs (here and here) noticed my favorites on etsy and offered to trade! So I’m very tentatively planning on some vintage designs made fresh again. Photos to come!
No really, I am! Things have been so busy here, and it’s a fine balance between sewing and spending family time outside when the weather is nice! Updates coming soon, there is still plenty in my shop! In fact I updated some photos in there recently 🙂
More photos to come, I’ve been working on a few projects. I am also doing a lot of custom orders, and made several gifts for birthdays/mother’s day. Today I’m cutting some aprons and picking out fabric for my daughter’s 2nd birthday dress (oy!)
Just a quick update friends, as to what I’ve been up to lately. Olivia and I went to a wonderful craft fair today (I’ll create another post with my swag soon!) which was totally inspirational.
Recently I’ve made several different apron patterns and altered a dress pattern. I just finished an adorable dress for my contest winner! Some of my etsy listings have expired, so I’ll be retaking some photos and relisting soon! I’ve got several things in the works for the shop so keep an eye out 😉
SO. Here are some of my recent creations, enjoy!
